Abstract:Withtheemergenceofwide-areaInternetofthings (IoT)applications,anovelcell-freehybridnon-terrestrial-terrestrialnetworkisproposedtomeettheneedforseamlessconnectivityacrossvastgeographicregions.The system leverages two distinct deployment modes of non-terestrial network (NTN)devices to achieve global coverage, where the NTN devices function either as wireless access points or as wireless relays.The diferences between these twodeployment modesareanalyzed,andappropriatedeploymentscenariosarediscussd foreach.Acasestudyis conducted to evaluate the feasibilityof the proposed system.Theresults indicate notable improvements in both energy eficiencyandcommunication eficiency.Specifically,the proposed schemeachieves more than asevenfold increase in both metrics.Finalythe potentialopportunities,challenges,and futureresearch directionsof thesystemarediscussed.
