Abstract:This study used Sebastes schlegelii as the study subject and investigated the effects of adding different levels of sodium acetate to the feed on the growth performance of S ,schlegelii. Six groups of feed with equal nitrogen and lipid content were prepared,with sodium acetate added at the folowing levels:SAl 0 (omg/kg ,control),SA2( 250mg/kg, ,SA3( 500mg/kg ,SA4( 1000mg/kg ),SA5 2000mg/kg) ! and SA6 (4000mg/kg) .A total of 180 fish with an initial weight of (16.03±0.05) g were selected and randomly divided into 6 groups with 3 replicates each (1O fish per replicate). They were reared in eighteen 100- L tanks equipped with a recirculating filtration system for a 56一day feding trial.The results indicated that, compard to the control group,an appropriate amount of sodium acetate significantly improved the weight gain rate and specific growth rate of S . schlegelii,with the peak effect observed in the SA4 group (1000mg/ kg ( ).No significant differences were detected in the hepatosomatic index (HSI),intestinal somatic index(ISI),or viscerosomatic index(VSI) among groups ( P>0.05 ).The feed conversion ratio (FCR) decreased significantly with increasing sodium acetate levels ( .P<0.05 ).Under the present experimental conditions,adding sodium acetate to the feed significantly enhanced the growth performance of S .schlegelii,and the optimal amount of sodium acetate to be added was 1 628.08mg/kg
