Research has found that there are fewer and fewer memorial landscape designs starting from the inside, and there are more and more memorial forms created from the outside. Most designs are confined to the constraints of formal expression, replacing public memory with material factors such as huge scales and magnificent images, which loses the meaning of"monumentality" in the memorial space. The "immateriality" of conceptual art coincides with the core of "commemorative communication" of the essence of commemorative space. This article advocates that commemorative landscape creation draws nutrition from conceptual art, uses comparative methods, compares traditional art with conceptual art, summarizes the characteristics of conceptual art, and studies the ways and methods of conceptual art’s involvement in commemorative landscapes. It will instruct the memorial space to move towards "immateriality" and better convey the spirit of the place.
