How ears produce abstraction: physiological philosophy of artistic abstraction (I)

Humans relies on physiology to perceive the external world and to acquire “images”. In philosophy, both sensory images and artistic images fall into two categories: concrete and abstract. The visual “seeing is believing” indicates the concreteness of the eyes—spatial concreteness, while the “hearing” indicates the abstraction of the ears—temporal abstraction. This is the unique physiological/cultural phenomenon of humans. The contradictory but complementary nature of human visual and auditory senses determines the contradictions and unity of humanity in “abstraction”—abstract thinking and abstract art. The existence of human abstract consciousness, abstract concepts, and abstract art allows humanity to transcend the limits of ordinary life and enter a stage of intellectual life. From the perspective of the abstraction of human auditory art, the pursuit of the abstract meaning of time has always been the absolute dimension of abstract art. Therefore, we can infer that the occurrence and development of abstract visual art must also be based on the temporal significance established in spatial dimensions.
