Abstract Weedyrice isas harmfulasweeds inpaddy fields，andhastheadvantagesofadaptabilityandstress resistance.The origin，developmentandcontrol technology of weedy riceare reviewed，and the utilization value and prospectof non-dropping weedy rice with excellent characteristics of salt and alkali tolerance found in Ningxiaare discussed toprovide theoreticalandtechnological referencefortheresearchofsaline-alkali tolerantrice varieties.
