Abstract:Capacitive deionization (CDl) is emerging as a novel technology forseawaterpurification,withtheelectrodematerial playingacrucial rolein desalination performance. In this study, we designed a nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots decorated iron oxide hydroxide (NCQDs/FeOOH) composite by afacile hydrothermal strategy and investigated as the CDl cathode for desalination application.Microstructural analyses reveal that the composite featuresarelativelyuniform nanoparticle-assemblednetwork,hierarchical porealignment,,and abundant porosity.Electrochemical tests confirmits outstanding capacitance property and conductivity. In an initial NaCl aqueous solution 2000mg?L-1 atan applied potential 1.4V, the GACNaCl NCQDs/FeOOH hybrid electrode reaches 56.52mg?g-1 ,alongwith remarkablecyclingdurabity.Furthermore,theCV (cyclic voltammetry)andex situXPS(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) characterizations indicate the predominantly pseudocapacitive desalination mechanism.
